A Thanksgiving Death
My parents are visiting for a week, and this morning my father and I attended a beautiful Thanksgiving Day Mass at Holy Rosary.
Crazy manic running around now, to prepare everything for the feast.
One sad bit of news: Vera the Dominique (beloved sister of Violet) did not survive the night. Although Francine had treated her enlarged crop, this was just the last of many health issues for poor Vera. She was a champion layer, and she’ll be missed.
It turns out that the big book of Catholic Household Blessings and Prayers doesn’t contain an Order of Pet Funerals, so I improvised.
I sang the “Salve Regina” and prayed Psalm 130 (Out of the Depths/De Profundis), and buried Vera between the rose bush and the winter garden box on the side of the house.
