Called to Serve?
When I began this blog, years ago now, I was trying to discern whether God was calling me to the Diaconate. I talked a little bit about that, and of vocation more generally, a little over a year ago in a post called The Vocation of Living.
The upshot was this: at that time the Archdiocese of Seattle had no real plans to call for new Deacons.
So I let it rest, though the call was still there.
Well, time marches on, and the one constant of life is change.
Last Friday I attended an informational session hosted by the Archdiocese. This year, Archbishop Sartain is calling for a new class to discern the Diaconate.
Applications for the next class of permanent deacon candidates will be available on the feast day of St. Lawrence, August 10th 2015.

I intend to submit an application. Am I called to serve in this way? Tune in to find out!
Pray for me, and please pray for all those discerning a vocation to the Diaconate in Seattle.
Saint Lawrence, pray for us!
Big step, Thom.
Good wishes.
As long as I have known you, your dedication to the path of devotion and service to the Divine has been one of your most marked characteristics. I am delighted that you will have the opportunity to engage in this discernment, and will keep you in my Pagan prayers.
Excellent! I, too, think you are called to serve. You are in my prayers for this journey.
Thank you all kindly for the good wishes and prayers.
