Camino Photo of the Day: On the Road Again
There’s a section of the Camino approaching Viana that runs right next to the N-111 highway. As we were walking this portion, a car drove by and honked. We waved back. This is not that unusual in Navarra, where the people like to greet and encourage pilgrims. What happened next, though, was a little unusual. The car crossed the median, turned around, drove a couple of dozen meters, then turned around again. It pulled off the road just ahead of us. And who was in it but Friar David!
He had been hoping to run into us. Apparently, right after we parted the day before, he realized that his advice to me was not very helpful. So we talked a bit more, and he gave me a pin, which I added to my hat, placing the Franciscan cross next to my Benedictine medal.
