Congratulations, Bishop Schuster!
Seattle has a new auxiliary bishop! I offer my heart-felt congratulations to the Most Reverend Frank Schuster who was today consecrated a bishop at Saint James Cathedral in Seattle.
I only met his Excellency once. He was (and still is) in charge of the formation of permanent deacons for the archdiocese, and we briefly met during my discernment. Somewhere around here – probably in my file cabinet – I still have the kind and gracious letter he sent me with the verdict: perhaps, but not now.
While leafing through the worship aid for the ordination liturgy, I was struck by his Excellency’s arms, and most especially the motto taken from Saint John’s Gospel.
