Inside Baseball
As Rocco reports, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops will be holding their spring meeting in Bellevue, just across Lake Washington from Seattle.
It’s quite a feather in the cap of our new Archbishop, though I’m sure it has been in the planning since long before his arrival.
I love following these confabs, though there’s a certain “inside baseball” aspect to it. You get a real sense of who the bishops are, and what they think is important. Sometimes you even get high drama, as when they tried and failed and tried and succeeded to get the new Missal translations through a vote.
Sometimes I get caught up in the minutia and forget that these men are bishops, successors to the apostles. This is not to say that they can’t make bad judgements, for they are just men after all, but they are men with an awesome responsibility to shepherd the souls entrusted to them.
Pray for our bishops.
