Liturgical Preparations

Interesting days ahead.

The Holy See Press Office announces that the Instruction Universæ Ecclesiæ of the Pontifical Commission “Ecclesia Dei”, on the application of the motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, will be made public on Friday, May 13th, and will be published on that afternoon (May 14th edition of L’Osservatore Romano). The Instruction will be published in its Latin typical version, and in Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese translations.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the Liturgy recently, as I have been tapped to MC at our parish Confirmations with Archbishop Sartain later in the month. I’ve spent the last few evenings at Saint John Bosco parish in Lakewood under the very able tutelage of their MC, Brian Guillot.

Mr. Guillot is a font of wisdom, and I’m grateful for his patience and good humour. The entire experience has given me a lot to reflect about as I integrate the practical nuts and bolts with Pope Benedict XVI’s writings on the subject.

Once the Confirmation is complete, I think I’ll try to put together some coherent thoughts on the subject.
