Quasquicentennial!

If you are anywhere near Tacoma this weekend, please join us on Sunday for the 125th anniversary of the founding of our parish. The Mass is at Noon, and it will be followed by a reception in the School hall.

Here’s the blurb from one of our local papers:

Holy Rosary’s steeple rises above downtown Tacoma and towers over I-5. With the Tacoma Dome, it’s probably the most recognizable landmark for those driving through Tacoma.

Founded in 1891 by German immigrants, Holy Rosary parish turns 125 this year. To celebrate the occasion, Bishop Eusebio Elizando will celebrate the jubilee Mass of the Holy Rosary on Oct. 16 at noon. Bishop Elizando, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, has been Auxiliary Bishop of Seattle since 2005. He will be joined at the altar by the current pastor of Holy Rosary, Rev. Nicholas Wichert, as well as former pastors Rev. Jacob Maurer and Rev. Tuan Nguyen. Hundreds of current and former parishioners are expected to attend.

Following the solemn Mass, the festivities will continue with a reception at Holy Rosary Regional School, located next to the church.
