So We Meet at Last
Arrived in Pamplona about 3:30 PM, so it was a brisk day. The weather was beautiful – cool and mostly overcast. It was perfect walking weather.
We set out from Zubiri at 7:40 after breakfast and a quick meet up with Billy, Becky, and Penny. They weren’t going to leave for a while, so we pressed on without them.
Four times today we were passed two young ladies, sisters from Colorado, Lauren and Francesca. They kept getting lost! They were at our albergue in Zubiri, and we walked into Pamplona together.
We had a very late second breakfast in Zurián – elevenses, really. Billy, Becky, and Penny briefly caught up with us there.
I climbed up to the 12th century church of San Esteban in Zabaldika to pray a while. Once again, the nuns there let me ring the 14th century church bell at the top of the tower. I rang it twice: once for me, and once for Francine. I met back up with Francine at the bottom of the hill. Eventually.
No lunch! However, after checking into the Jesus y María albergue in Pamplona and showers, we stopped by Café Irúña for pinchos and to meet Ernest Hemingway face-to-face at last.
