Something is up
… in the words of Fr. Z.
Yesterday evening the Pope received in audience:
His Eminence Francis Card. Arinze, Prefect for the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments;
His Eminence Darío Card. Castrillón Hoyos, President of the Pontifical Commission “Ecclesia Dei”.
The Motu Proprio to liberalize the Tridentine Rite is coming, and soon. The question is, will it be received in the United States with the same sort of horrific thump that heralds a dead fish falling on the deck, or will it be recieved with joy and purpose?
Based on the response (not to mention translation issues) attending the release of Sacramentum Caritatas, I’ve got to believe that implementation will be slow.
Having said that, I attended a talk given by one of the Auxiliary Bishops of my archdiocese a few weeks ago on the subject of liturgy. The words of this Bishop filled me with hope that even out here on the left coast, we have some concientious and holy shepherds.
Time will tell.
