Spiritual Advice
Today I met Fr. Vincent Beuzer of the Society of Jesus.
My pastor, Fr. Sacco, had recommended him to me as a spiritual adviser.
I called him this afternoon, and we met at 3:00 at Bellarmine, where he is a resident with the other Jesuit Fathers.
The object of our talk was to determine whether or not God was calling us together, him to advise me and guide me on my journey. Accordingly, we spoke for several hours about my pilgrimage so far.
He stressed to me the need to discern God’s will, which He imparts to us daily even if we do not – or cannot – hear Him. While speaking with Fr. Beuzer, I realized that my lifelong pursuit of Truth was in fact the classroom of the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit Himself.
That’s a lot to process.
I shall be adding the following to my morning prayers:
Eternal Father, show me the light of Your Truth today,
and give me the Grace to follow where it leads me,
so that I can follow You more perfectly
according to Your will,
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
On Fr. Beuzer’s recommendation, in the coming days, I shall be praying the first 18 chapters of the Gospel of John.
