Training Report at T Minus 20
Francine and I were sick most of the week with a cold that would not quit. I stayed home Wednesday and Thursday. An attempt at working from home on Friday was a spectacular failure.
Needless to say, our whole training schedule this week was a shambles. And by shambles I mean this: on Wednesday I walked a block to the store to buy orange juice. It laid me out for about three hours. Francine got a photo of me collapsed and unconscious on the couch with two cats sitting on me, apparently because I was both warm (feverish, really) and inert.
Walking a block led to collapse.
Saturday, however, I was feeling a little better. Well, I was ambulatory, which was certainly an improvement.
The training schedule said “20km walk with pack”. While I utterly failed to achieve that, as it turned out I was able to make it for 18km. This is the same as last Saturday (at full health), and I was inordinately pleased.
And then I napped a little.
Today, in between a ton of errands, we went to Snake Lake and put in about 5km, including twice on the hills loop.
So even though we missed a bunch of training, I don’t think we’re horribly off where we want to be.
Monday? Buying Euros!
