Alpine Lakes Wilderness Hiking

Over the past few days, Francine and I have been hiking with our friend Callie out near Leavenworth in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. We hiked 16 kilometers over rough ground at altitude on two back-to-back days. It’s been awhile since I’ve hiked 32km!

Needless to say, this has had an enormous effect on our “virtual Camino“. In fact, we almost finished up two Camino days!

We’re practically to Santo Domingo de la Calzada now. In fact, we pushed past the current “Camino Photo of the Day” place in Nájera on our first hike.

(Our hikes over the past few days are marked in black cross-hatching on the chart below.)

It’s like we’ve lapped ourselves, and on goat paths no less.

The trails were challenging, but the views made it completely worth it.

I’ll resume the Camino Photo of the Day series tomorrow.
