Camino Photo of the Day: a Pilgrim’s Burden

In France, one of the great things about the Camino routes is the availability of public toilets along the Way. Despite my hurry, I stopped here to use the facilities and to have a quick bite to eat. I dug into my stash and ate an apple and some cookies before continuing. Getting into the stash involves removing my pack. Here you can see my typical setup (weighing in at about 20 pounds or 9 kilos), plus my poncho slung atop against the threatening rain. At some point, I should probably do a post about my gear. This poncho, which Francine and I refer to as our “strawberry troll” cosplay, has served me well since my first Camino in 2013. After a decade on the trail, with all the wear and tear, I fear that this is probably its last hurrah.
