Camino Photo of the Day: Astorga Dawn
We spent a restful night in the albergue of the Asociación de Amigos del Camino, where we shared a room with Smith and Tara. Early the next morning, we made our way to the Plaza de Eduardo de Castro, which contains both the Cathedral and this place. This is a museum, originally designed as Astorga’s Episcopal Palace by Antoni Gaudí as a complement to the nearby Gothic Cathedral. It’s ostensibly built in the Gothic style, but with a twist. When it was finally finished, the Bishop thought it was much too grand for a house, and it became a museum of the Camino instead. This early in the morning, it was sadly closed, but we did visit in 2016, where I took a bunch of photos, some of which you can see starting here.
