Camino Photo of the Day: Bull!
After the long urban parkland following Logroño, the Camino spends some kilometers running next to the N-120 highway. The scenery is about what you would expect, though normally in Spain you don’t get quite this level of urban sprawl. And then there’s the bull on the hillside, towering over the houses. You can probably work out that this particular piece of art is LARGE.
The Toro de Osborne is 14 meters (46 feet) high and was originally erected to advertise a kind of brandy. Eventually, the EU forbade roadside signs advertising alcohol, but by then the bulls had practically become part of the scenery in rural Spain. The solution was to paint over the name of the company. Now a simple black silhouette, you can see their images on everything from t-shirts to flags.
