Camino Photo of the Day: Castrojeriz in the Distance

Just a few yards past San Antón, we see the village of Castrojeriz in the distance. Well, mostly we see the hill that towers above it. The ruins of a medieval castle stand atop the hill that dominates the village, though the houses and churches huddle together in an arc around the base of the hill, as can be seen on the map below. We are hoping to catch an 11 AM Mass here, though it’s already a few moments past that hour, and we have no idea which of the three churches it might be in.
