Camino Photo of the Day: Église Saint-Côme-et-Saint-Damien
This is the village church of Saint-Côme-d’Olt. Previously, I posted some photos of the interior, but I think the exterior is just as striking, if for different reasons. It’s been restored and had so much rebuilding work done that it’s difficult to see what the original design might have been. The tower is just odd, with its little side turret and its twisty spire, but it’s certainly distinctive, even from a distance. I’ll have a better photo of the spire in a few days so you can see how truly unique it really is. I had to lay down in the square to get this photo with the sun behind it. The person resting in the shade on the church steps was greatly amused by my antics.

Maps!
If you’re the sort who looks at the maps, you’ll note that the stage shown is 32+km long. I split this up into two days, since I wanted to spend some time exploring both Saint-Chély-d’Aubrac and Saint-Côme-d’Olt, both of which are on the list of most beautiful villages in France.
