Camino Photo of the Day: Gear

Today is the Feast of Santiago! May you have all the joy of the feast. Today’s photo is the second in this second series. Like the first, this photo was taken while still at home in Tacoma.

Here we see my gear, all laid out, with the pack I carried it in. While I did ultimately use every bit of gear but one at some point on the Camino, this is certainly NOT how I packed for later Caminos, and it’s not what I would pack now, either. There’s too much stuff.

Although the total weight of everything you see here is just a nudge under 10% of my body weight, I think I could pretty easily get that down to 8% now, and much less if I got a lighter pack. Having said that, the pack sits very comfortably on me, and I used it again in 2018 and in camping earlier this week.

However, I will never, ever, ever pack crocs again.
