Camino Photo of the Day: Hermitage Door

This is the entrance to the tiny Ermita de la Inmaculada in the village of Orbaneja Riopico. Why these doors are designed the way they are, I’ve no idea. My cultural guidebook, usually the final word in such matters, does not deign to mention the place. Most of my guidebooks only mention the village in passing, if at all. None mention this little hermitage. I presume, given that the motif is yellow arrows on a blue field, that the design is related to the Camino. But perhaps it is actually two crosses instead, making the arrows a happy accident. Who knows? Certainly despite the lack of documentation, this door is frequently photographed, if the stock photo sites are to be believed.
