Camino Photo of the Day: Iglesia de Santiago in Carrión de los Condes

As we continued our quest for a private room in Carrión de los Condes, we passed by another church, the Iglesia de Santiago. Above the arched entrance and continuing all along the roof line of the church is a magnificent carving of Christ in Majesty, flanked by a row of Apostles. This photo focuses in on Christ Himself, surrounded by the symbols of the four evangelists. The carving, like much of the church, dates to the thirteenth century.
