Camino Photo of the Day: L’Église Saint-Adrien de Livinhac-le-Haut
I arrived at the church of Saint-Adrien in Livinhac-le-Haut at about 3:45 in the afternoon. I decided to visit the church before finding a gîte. The main door was locked up tight. I found my way in through a small side door with an accessibility ramp. It was uncharacteristically hot and stuffy inside. This is particularly odd, considering how cool it was outside.
There has been a church on this site dedicated to Saint Adrian since at least the year 924. Some small Romanesque portions remain despite many major rebuilding efforts throughout the centuries. The last major work was done in the 19th century when the current Neo-Gothic transept, choir, and bell tower were constructed.
