Camino Photo of the Day: Like an Arrow Across the Meseta
I’m not a fan of highway walking, but if you have to do it, this is the way. I much prefer gravel to tarmac or concrete. This section is pretty much a straight line for ages, which does wear after a while. Fortunately, there’s an alternative route that will soon veer away from the highway and into the Meseta. Not a shortcut so much as a longer, scenic route. If we take it, however, it will mean a very long day, as it means adding a couple of extra kilometers to the route. It also means in practical terms that we must push on all the way to Carrión de los Condes.
Bonus: here’s what this section looked like during the hundred-year floods in 2016: https://www.thomryng.com/camino/camino-photo-of-the-day-splish-splash/
