Camino Photo of the Day: Looking Back, a Thematic Statement
Fun fact: on this day back in 2016, Francine and I arrived in Rabanal. Today’s photo, however, is a look back at the village under the rising sun as we leave, heading for points farther west. Always, we journey to the West, but it’s important that you turn, from time to time, and reflect on where you’ve been and your journey so far. This is, indeed, what this entire photographic series is about.
In the words of the poet:
If you don’t know where you’ve come from, you don’t know where you’re going. I have respect for the past, but I’m a person of the moment. I’m here, and I do my best to be completely centered at the place I’m at, then I go forward to the next place.
(Maya Angelou)
With that in mind, I am increasingly turning towards our upcoming Camino. We leave for Spain in about two weeks. At some point – possibly the end of next week – I’ll be suspending our Camino Photo of the Day series until sometime in June. I did something similar during our 2018 Galician Camino. Hopefully during most of the time the series is on hiatus, we’ll be posting from the Camino Primitivo!
