Camino Photo of the Day: Not to Eunate

On my previous Camino, one of the most intensely spiritual moments of my life occurred in the tiny Templar Church of Santa María de Eunate. This church is located in the middle of an agricultural field, and getting there is a detour of about two kilometers from the Camino. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the start of the detour in the village of Muruzábal, we realized that by the time we actually arrived at Eunate, it would be closing for a two hour siesta. We quickly decided that there was no way we could lose two (or more!) hours today and still arrive to anyplace we wanted to sleep. So with heavy hearts, we continued on towards Obanos.

God, however, is tricky – he taketh away but He also giveth. We arrived in Obanos to an unexpected and moving moment with a great saint.
