Camino Photo of the Day: Saint-Michel de Montredon Interior
The church of Saint-Michel de Montredon was built in the late 19th century in a style that isn’t Gothic Revival so much as straight-up Gothic. On the left we see what the nave and sanctuary look like from the main doors, and on the right is a close-up of the sanctuary. Note the sedilia on the far right, just barely visible in the photo. Here’s how I described this place in my journal:
The interior architecture of the church was stunning. Heavy Gothic arches culminated in a beautifully proportioned sanctuary and side chapels. I especially enjoyed the fact that high on either side of the sanctuary were statues of Saint Michael the Archangel on the one hand and Saint Joan of Arc on the other. A beautiful, beautiful church.
