Camino Photo of the Day: Santiago in Lorca
This image of Santiago decorates the wall of the Albergue de Lorca / La Bodega del Camino. Although I’ve never spent the night here, I did eat here during both our 2013 and 2016 Caminos. It’s a dark, cave-like place, and it’s wonderful. The food is solid, and the atmosphere can’t be beat.
The image also reminds me that earlier today, while walking on the Roman road, I met Santiago! No, not that one. The Santiago I met was originally from Columbia, but was now working in the restaurant business in New York City. He had the same brand backpack that I did. We soon adopted him into our sprawling Camino family, and I would walk with him on-and-off all the way to… Santiago.
