Camino Photo of the Day: Spanish Soaps
With Francine asleep in the room, I set out to explore the village of Villafranca Montes de Oca. There is nothing here of particular interest except perhaps the church, which is only open on Sundays. So by noon I had returned here to the hotel “Cafeteria”, and I spent most of the afternoon drinking with a pair of little old ladies watching Spanish soap operas.
Actual notes in my journal:
The soap opera appears to be a 19th-century period piece?
That Paulo is one sneaky bastard. I’m pretty sure.
And what’s the deal with the maid?
OK – I think it’s a sort of Spanish version of Downton Abbey or Upstairs Downstairs.
Uniforms on the gendarmes look Napoleonic, but the windows have blinds. Early 20th century?
