Camino Photo of the Day: That Bench

It might not look like much, but this bench was an important moment of my first Camino. The albergue in Hornillos del Camino was full. It was after four in the afternoon, we were exhausted, and the nearest town was another 10km. Eamon and sat on this bench for almost a half hour while we figured out what to do next. In the end, he found a reference in a guide book that there was another albergue about 4km or so down the Way, even though there was clearly no town located there. That would be an hour’s walk or so, and we had no guarantee that this place actually existed, or if it would have beds available if it did. Trusting in the Camino – trusting in God – we hauled ourselves off this bench and started walking. Walking in trust.
