Camino Photo of the Day: That First Morning in France

By the time I arrived in Le Puy, it was dark. I was staying for two nights in the old seminary there, down the street from the cathedral. Fortunately, a very kind hostess responded to my desperate email from the train and remained at her post until I arrived. The next morning, I stumbled downstairs to the common room for breakfast, my first in France.

I made so many mistakes! The obvious one is the glass in which I’m having back coffee. I never could find anything like a mug. I did later find milk and creamer in an unobvious communal fridge, but I was completely unaware – until a kindly Frenchman explained it to me later – that in this part of France, coffee is consumed from bowls.

Starting tomorrow in the new year: finally photos of beautiful Le Puy-en-Velay!
