Camino Photo of the Day: the Best Meal of My Life
Here we see Viola and another pilgrim in the Hobbity-inn style dining area of the Hospederia de San Juan de Ortega. It was here, probably an hour and a half after this photo was taken, that I ate the best meal of my life. I honestly don’t remember the first course at all, but the main course was three porkchops on a plate, surrounded by blood sausage and a small green salad. The plate was absolutely groaning with meat, and I ate every bite. It was delicious and sublime, and now that we were eleven dinners into the Camino, it was just the right amount of protein. I washed it down with a bottle of what I imagined to be La Rioja’s finest vino tinto.
