Camino Photo of the Day: the Hidden Chapel
I passed through a narrow little door – so narrow that I scraped a hole in my backpack’s rain cover – and climbed up a winding and impossibly steep set of stairs. Finally, I came to the treasure of the Église Saint-Pierre de Bessuéjouls. This purely Romanesque chapel is located halfway up the church bell tower. It’s an amazing place. The interior carvings are absolutely exquisite, and there are little hidden details everywhere you look. I suppose you could argue that the chapel itself is a hidden detail!
It measures approximately six meters on each side and seven to eight meters high. The dimensions and the way the space is arranged makes it difficult to get a photo of the whole space. I spent some time praying here, and I also took a lot of photos.
