Camino Photo of the Day: the Long Road

Oh, it was a long, long morning. It was made longer by a conscious decision on our part to avoid walking next to the highway. If you look at the map down below, you will see two routes, one much longer than the other. We took the long road. It was beautiful, with the deep red of the La Rioja clay with its vineyards and the brilliant green of the grass- and cropland. Unfortunately, the long way also led to a rather steep hill. It really doesn’t look at that bad at a distance, but by the time we were right up against it, it was more than a little daunting.
