Camino Photo of the Day: Zariquiegui

We arrive in the village of Zariquiegui! Yes, this is another Basque village that starts with a Z. It was, as you can see, quite sunny. I remember wishing that it would be a little cloudier. Boy howdy, was I to regret that wish!

We booked into the only albergue and met up with Emilio and Katie. After exploring the little village, we spent the rest of the afternoon sitting in the shade at the tables out front of the albergue, drinking beer, smoking my pipe, and wearing my new beret. Emilio tells me that depending on how you wear it, you’re saying you’re a communist or a socialist or a fascist. I asked him how I was wearing it, and he hastened to assure me that I wear it “like an intellectual, like Cervantes”.
