Camino Primitivo: To Tineo

Late start this morning. We had breakfast in the albergue at 7 AM, and it was an hour later that we finally managed to get out the door. Shallow uphill climb out of town; nothing like yesterday, though. Under the forest canopy, through a land filled with bubbling streams and waterfalls, tiny grottoes and hulking industrial ruins.

This was followed by some crazy scary roadwalking.

Climbing all the way to Bodenaya, with an early lunch shortly afterwards in La Espinal. Lunch was at about 11 AM, as there’s not much in the way of food until Tineo.

After lunch, much of the Way was dirt paths through woods and farmland. Often times we had vast panoramic views of farms and field and meadow, dotted with villages and a profusion of cattle.

In one village, we ran into a pair of pilgrims who were carrying the hiking poles that Francine and Callie had discarded in Grado. He thought that we had accidentally forgotten them, and he wanted to return them!

He will leave them at an albergue in Tineo for pilgrims who need them, which was our intention in Grado.

Tineo is a charming medieval town built onto a hillside. The Calle Mayor slopes at a crazy angle from the top of the town to the bottom, where you’ll find the main plaza with its town hall, cafés, and albergues.

Date: 11 May 2022

Place: Tineo (Principality of Asturias, Spain)

Today started: Salas (Comarca of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain)

NOTE: The wifi here is terrible. Phone signal strength is terrible, and it’s not likely to get any better in the coming days as we continue deeper into the mountains. Photo uploading to the blog is difficult and might prove impossible in coming days.

Looks like the video is the one from the previous day Grado to Salas rather than the Salas to Tineo one.

No need to post this comment, but it looks like it is still trying to link to the old image (unless my computer is caching or similar. I tried to use my Developer-fu and look at using the DevTools, but I am really more of a back-end rather than front-end dev. Looking forward to the photos of Lugo as you get to spend one day all in one place.
