Oviedo at Last!

Utterly exhausted. We were so tired and loopy while we were in Madrid that we didn’t manage much except breakfast at a lovely little panderia halfway to the city center. The Metro was partially closed, so we had to take a bus to bridge the service gap. But we were so mentally unable to go any further, that we just stopped at the first place we found at the end of the bus route.

We spent the rest of the day in the Madrid airport trying to catch snatches of sleep and occasionally succeeding.

While we eventually made it to the airport in Asturias, our checked bag with our hiking poles did not.

We took the regular bus into Oviedo, bought new hiking poles at the local outfitter, and checked into the lovely Hotel Vetusta, our home for the next two nights. Tomorrow is a rest day.
