What Happened to my Rest Day?

Today was meant to be a rest day in glorious Pamplona. We went to Lauds (chanted Latin) and Mass (first half Latin, second half Spanish) at the Cathedral.

Then, I took about 200 photos (see the link in the side bar – totally worth it). We visited the cloisters and the cathedral museum. As I said, it was meant to be a rest day, but after the cathedral, both Francine and I had itchy feet. We had to get moving again.

After Mass we met up with Emilio and his daughter Katie, who we met originally when we came out of Roncesvalles. We agreed to meet in Zariquigui, just before Alto de Perdón.

This, we accomplished.  Zariquiegui is a lovely little village, and our friends are here, beer in hand.

Before we left the city, we purchased some bocadillos to eat en route, and I bought a Basque beret. Emilio tells me that depending on how you wear it, you’re saying you’re a communist or a socialist or a fascist. I asked him how I was wearing it, and he hastened to assure me that I wear it “like an intellectual, like Cervantes”.

I’ll take it.
